II. Amalfi – my second surrealistic artwork in the series, inspired by the town’s past as a powerful maritime republic.
Amalfi, now a popular seaside town, was once a powerful maritime republic. In my slightly surreal vision, I placed a medieval Cathedral of St. Andrew atop the deck of a grand galley. Its richly decorated façade and monumental staircase are, in my view, the most photographed landmarks in the town - so it simply had to be part of this composition.
